The relationship between an exhibition and a work tends to merge with its surroundings, becoming almost an augmented reality tool in the eyes of the viewer. Everyone will have their own personal perception by moving and moving around the sculpture that will offer from time to time a different vision of the space that surrounds it.

Figures coming out of the wall collectively called Extra Moenia, the Latin locution that indicated the buildings outside the walls.” They represent man at the height of physical and, supposedly, intellectual perfection. The works are linked to the concept of balance and imbalance, the passage from one dimension, that inside the wall that evokes mystery, outside, beyond the walls in a game of balances and interaction between the two worlds.

Breaking Through #97

Artist

Omar Hassan

Year

Found in

Bibliotheque

Work on canvas made with boxer gloves soaked in paint . Hassan fights with the canvas until the work is finished, creating an explosive color energy field where the physical world collides with the two dimensions of the painting. The brush is replaced by the boxing gloves “I don’t beat to destroy but I create”. Famous are his performances where he paints in struggle with the canvas through a very physical demonstration of strength, anger and cathartic energy.
